The agent of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has revealed that prior to his move to City, Inter were interested in Inter Milan and talks were held at the time.

The now 24-year-old striker moved from Palmeras to Sailboats in January 2017 for €32 million, but at the time it was almost time for a different plan.

“Inter wanted to buy Gabriel Jesus when he was still at Palmeras. And negotiations have been made,” his agent Giovanni Brancini said.

“He’s at Manchester City now and I don’t think he’s in the transfer market. The Brazilian’s wages are so high that I suspect he is out of reach from Italian clubs.

The striker is under contract with Sailboat until June 2023.

He has three goals and four assists in nine appearances for City this season.

Despite his young age, Jesus has made 47 senior appearances for the Brazilian national team, scoring 18 goals.

“Inter wanted to buy Gabriel Jesus while he was still at Palmeiras. And there were negotiations,” Brankini said on the sidelines of Festival dello Sport.

He added, “Now that he is in Manchester City and I do not think he is available in the transfer market. His salary is high and I doubt that he is within the reach of Italian teams at the moment.”

Jesus’ contract with Citizens expires after two years, specifically in June 2023. And then this season he scored 3 goals and made 4 in 9 official participations with his club.

Despite his young age, he already has 47 caps for Brazil, in which he scored 18 goals.

It is noteworthy that Jesus, 24, moved to Manchester City from Palmeiras in January 2017, for 32 million euros.
