Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes Caoimhin Kelleher should remain the No 1 permanently, even if regular starter Alisson Becker returns from injury.
“Even though Alisson is fit, I still think Slots have to keep believing in Kelleher,” Aldridge told Ladbrokes.
“Alisson has done nothing wrong. ทางเข้า https://ufabet999.app But I think he knows the situation and he cannot return to the team at this moment.”
“It was a difficult decision because Alisson has such quality, but I just think Kelleher deserves to be number one.”
“I’m sure there will be people who disagree. But when you get injured and someone comes on and scores, you don’t get your place back, no matter who it is.”
“That’s why we used to play with cortisone injections, to keep our positions! It doesn’t sound good, but it’s what you have to do at the time.”
It’s also important to note the opponents Kelleher has faced have been of a relatively high standard. Kelleher has faced the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa in the Premier League. Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig were his opponents in his two Champions League clashes. And Liverpool remain unbeaten in the eight matches in which he’s featured.
“I think Caoimhin Kelleher has been our standout player,” declared Aldridge. “He has a massive future ahead of him at the club.
Alisson has been out injured since the middle of last month, which has allowed Kelleher to continue to be in goal and has kept four clean sheets in eight games in all competitions. Helping Liverpool to lead the Premier League and Champions League.
